hd front springs
#1
Well i successfully installed my front HD springs and there is a HUGE difference. there is NO way the front will bottom out now like it did before. It sits 2 inches higher and thats with a winch and tuble tube bumper. The ride is completely different. Pretty stiff compared to stock. Doesnt dive down in the turns and you dont feel like your going to roll it over the front. One thing I had to do was riase the rear adjusters a notch.
Install went very well - it took about 2 hours but I was drinkin and smokin while i was doing it and I took my time. If you wanted to rush it I would say about a half hour you could do it. WELL worth the 50 bucks in my opinion. BUT if you dont want to lose the gushey suspension - DONT do it. You will lose the Polaris ride but I feel more confident with it and the steering is more responsive now that the wheels arent toed in so much. Now the are just about straight.
I recommend them if you have alot of weight up front and you are out riding the front suspension.
Thanks to all that posted so much about this topic - I am happy I went with the springs.

What kind did you go with?
I've done about 5 sets now and I've got it down to 20 minutes from start to finish with a smoke in the middle LOL But I work flat rate so time is money LOL

i went with the Polaris ones. this was the first set I have ever done and didnt really know what i was doing - just from reading from on here. Plus I used ratchet straps and not springs compressors which was a PAIN but it worked!

Why did you have to compress the springs?? I pulled the rack, lifted the front of the bike with the winch, then loosened the upper strut mounts off the frame, then pulled the spring retainer off the strut rod. There was a little tension, but not enough for me to warrant a compresser on it. Were the new springs a lot longer than stock or just stiffer?

i had to use straps on my 800 as there was alot of tention after i put the spacers in and it wouldnt go back in because it was too long to clear w/out compressing the springs. but it worked and thats all that matters lol.

i compressed them because i didnt want to lift the quad too much to avoid popping out the cv's. Thats what I read to do. I didnt know how much I could let them angle before that happend so I lifted the quad just to the point where the tires came off the ground while the struts were still in place. I could of I guess just let them go all the way down but i was nervous

RickCJ7, is the list price for both sets or for one. How do they compare to the springs from say EPI or others. My 700 sags pretty good with the loaded front box, brush guard, winch and my fat **** on it!
