they do move but shouldnt move that much. i also think if the bearing was real bad o think it would runin the seal and have it leak fluid but that would be a guess on my part.

H i it seems that this is a issue with some of the newer ones i have a 99 with 10k on it and no play im working on a 04 that has alot of play on both inner rear and one striped out on the spline side and i cant get it out has anybody ever seen this problem

just had one come into the shop the other day and the problem was the bearings in the gearcase were shot. of course there were also numerous other problems. ( bad ball joints, torn cv boots etc etc) and getting the gearcase out and apart isn't that bad, just pull the axles and the 2 bolts that hold the gearbox in and it'll come out

OK, just got the machine and the LS is definately loose more than I would assume normal. The C-Clip is definately in there cus its still a pain in the a** to get out (BTW any tips on pulling the axle?)
So, bad bearing in the gearcase? Any way to surely confirm this without pulling the case? (Check for play in the spline housing in the gearcase?)
