Default '04 Sportsman 600 CV Boot

Guys

Trying to replace the CV joint boots on my 04 sportsman 600. I have cut off the old boots and trying to reinstall the new ones. It appears all I need to do is remove the Lower (outside) CV joint and then I can get both boots on the shaft. Is that correct?

My question - How do you get that CV joint off? I can't find a clamp, clip, etc.

Also the top CV joint has about 2-3'' of horizontal "play" in and out of the housing that transfers into the rear differential. Is that normal? Will I damage the top CV joint while beating on the lower joint to get it off?

Does anyone have a repair manual for the 04 sportsman 600 electronically that they could email me?

Thank you.
