Biggest tires...

27" tall fit no problem maybe even 28". The width is what matters. Without an offset rim you'll be limited to 8" or some 9" on the front and 11" in the rear. I have the deluxe wheels as well on mine and I run 27" Mud lite XTRs with 9s up front and 11s out back. The fronts are pretty close to the tie rod end boot but I haven't had a tear in one yet

I agree with what was said above, but I do bottom my rear 27" XTRs out on the rear fenders when I hit hard. The tires just rub the underside of the fender and dont really hurt anything. I couldn't do the same with a 28", they would hit. I'm a big guy and sometimmes I have my wife on the back when it happens. Other than those situations 27" are great.

A buddy of mine had two BIG guys sitting on the rear rack for a slow cruise to a set of falls and when we got there he had two grooves wore into the back fenders. It doesn't look to bad but they're there. He has the same tires as me. On the way back I had the two BIG guys and with the lift it didn't touch the fenders at all. Score one up for a lift

What do you have for your rear lift? How much was it and/or how much trouble
to do it?

I have a Rubberdown lift and I bought it used. It was really easy to put in. Unbolt the rear shock at the bottom, and bolt the lift inbetween the shock and the a-arm. But it put the CVs at a pretty good angle hence the Gorillas in the rear now. I did break a rear inner CV but I'm pretty sure that was my fault when I was changing an outer boot the inner pulled apart and I just jammed it back together and I think it had a ball drop out. When I backed it out of the shop and gave it a little shot, SNAP LOL

Yea the whole CV breaks is what concerns me about adding lift to my Quad. I would
like the gain and be able to run up to the 27" like yourself and others but again
how much wear and tear on the CV's and how many do you eat and how often?
Is it worth it to me is the question. I think I will do mudd'in about at the most 5 times
a year. Then ride wood trails and hard pack mainly.

I don't think you need a lift with 27" tires on the new sportsmans (05 and newer) unless, like we said earlier, you are going to be putting alot of weight on the rear seat and rack of your sportsman, ie 400#s, and riding it at hight speeds over really tough terrain. I'm 260 and with all of my gear and riding stuff I know I have that 800 way over loaded and I don't feel there is much of a problem. All I have ever really did is rub the dirt off from under the fender. My buddy put a 2" highlifter kit in the rear with 28" 589s and he has more hitting back there than I do. His rear sway bar hits his muffler and dents in and his shocks rub.
