Default any one ever HeliCoil a Brake Bleeder Valve?

Operation a sucess doctor. Well tonight I got a NAPA 770-3081 HeliCoil kit (1/4-28 x 3/8), a 17/64 drill bit and got busy in the garage. For anyone else out there that finds themselves with a stripped rear caliper bleeder it can be done but be careful. It can also be done with the caliper still mounted on the machine. ONLY drill in 1/4" into the caliper,)If you go deeper than 1/4 you will ruin the bleeder seat). tap it,clean out all of the chips with a Q-Tip soaked in brake fluid after you tap it. (make sure you get them all) You will have to trim 1/8 off the HeliCoil insert as 3/8 is as tiny as they come (or at least that I could find). Insert the helicoil and then the bleeder. The whole process including clean up took me about an hour, I was a bit suprised at how well the helicoil holds, strong little things and did the job great. Again do this at your own risk, I was looking at buying a new caliper anyway so I had nothing to loose.

Well I'll be a monkey's butt!!!! Never knew they made such a thing. I have a big buck 9" caliper that is stripped out. It was given to me for nothing. Now I can fix it. Thanks for the info!!!!!
