Helmet Cams

Well I did a bit of reading on the helmet cams and hard drive recorders and by the sounds of it, make sure you spend the most money on the camera. If you cheap out on the camera you'll have really bad quality video. I found one one for $30 and the reviews were horrible. And then I found a few for around $200-$300 and the reviews were a lot better. Some of the cameras pull power from the recorder and some have their own power suply. I would rather have a self-powered camera so it won't kill the recorder as quick. Some have available remotes to record, stop and pause built in and some were optional. It thik that would be a good idea so you don't have to get the recorder out of your pocket when you stop or get going.
The hard drive recorders were pretty close to the same for all of them, but the battery life and storage capacity are important. They say 1 hour of recording is about 1GB of storage and a lot of them are 20-30GB. The highest battery life I found was 10 hours of recording but it was the most expensive of course LOL

You have done your homework! Thanks for all the good info.
BUT I think we or at least I am still stuck. That is STUCK not really
knowing what to buy? Its kinda hard, when no one is posting on
what they use. I guess the silent readers have spoke loud on this
one! -- Not many out there are using them is my conclusion?
Your take?

I know a girl that knows the guys from "Sled ****" They make a lot of videos in Alaska and the Yukon on sleds. I'll see if I can find out what they use for cameras and recorders. It might take a while for her to get back to me, she works on a cruise ship so she's not home very much, but if I hear anything I'll let you know
