Sunset.... What did the polaris dealer say when you brought back the II? According to the E-Brouchure it says you can mount the v-plow to the II. Thinking about the V-plow, I asked my dealer about it and he thought it would work but has not tried it yet.. he was going to check up on it. He is trying to sell 60" telling me that I will have no problem making paths with my 800. So I might go to the moose plow. Still not sure.

He did not say anything about it when I took it back. When Brainer asked his dealer and his dealer told him they would not work together, I called my dealer parts manager and he checked and said, yes, that is correct. He asked If I wanted to keep the blade, which at the time, I did. Then when Brainer told me the mount was heavier and would not lift as high, I asked him to just exchange the blade for the 60" one. He said he already ordered the new mounts.
I tried to put that blade on that mount, and it would not go. I think with a simple alteration, it would work, but I do not have a welder and cannot weld. It would have been a cool setup though. The V blade is pretty light weight too.

I just used my plow for the first time and was really disheartened. It just did not seem to be very useful. I tried it for about 15 mins. Then I put it away and got out the tractor and plowed myself out. I really wish I had never bought it.
If I had a blacktop or concrete driveway or a small concrete walk, it might be okay. For my gravel drive that is fairly large, it just does not seem to do what I need.

Can I make a few suggestions?

This is my first year plowing with an ATV and I had some trouble the first few times. I have a Sportsman 500 with a Glacier plow system. My driveway is also gravel. Our first snow was October 14th and let me tell you, I had some doubts about plowing gravel driveways. Then my 16 year old neighbor gave me the run down.

At the beginning my skids were about 1/4 inch below the blade. The first few storms I was plowing in AWD low and picking up a lot of gravel. My neighbor saw me doing this and told me I was doing it all wrong.

We lowered the skids to ½ inch below the blade, let a little more slack out on the winch and he told me to haul a$$ in AWD high, the snow went flying. He said only plow in AWD low when pushing snow up and over a pile or of course when we get the 3 - 4 feet of wet snow in the spring and fall. The first few times I plowed I picked up some gravel but after 1 or 2 good storms a good base of packed snow formed which helped tremendously with the gravel issue. So basically the base of packed snow (3-4 inches) acts like an asphalt driveway allowing me to plow snow with no gravel, which BTW is great for the half pipe I'm making for my son.

I don't see how one could get the same results plowing asphalt vs. gravel. If I plowed down to the dirt I would have piles of dirt 4 - 5 feet tall around my driveway which would need to be spread out come spring time, not to mention the erosion damage on my driveway.

I live at 9200 feet above see level in Bailey Colorado, which as you know has basically no humidity, the temperature is low, which results in very powdery like snow. My driveway looks like a ski resort parking lot.

Anyway, I hope this helps and I mean no disrespect to you if all this info is old news.

Well thanks for the help, I think I will try it again. I did plow in low. I have the skids close to where you are talking. If I did not have a V blade, I would turn the blade around and drag. That is what I do with the tractor. I had 3ft. drifts today and I think the atv could handle it, but I was getting stones up or nothing at all in places. Thanks a lot though.

I would hate for you to throw in the towel after all you have been through. Glad I could help. Let us know how the second go around turns out. Good Luck!

The first few inches of snow on a gravel road/driveway ....whatever your using snowblower or plow.....................I always pack the snow down with the car/truck tires first!!

Plowing or snowblowing..............The gravel will still fly!!!!!.........Caper.............
