throttle position sensor

No I don't work for Polaris, but I do work for a Ford dealer. I have replaced almost every part on my old Scrambler and a few on my NEW SP. Was I pi$$ed?? Of course. But I knew I had 6 months warranty and I tried to break everything I could before the warranty ran out. After it ran out I knew I was on my own. I had over 800 miles on my bike when the warranty ran out. I have a buddy who bought a new bike 4 months after me and he hasn't even hit 10 hours. If you can get a good dealer like CAPER then you're laughing. I dealt with Polaris customer service back when I had sleds over the service department at the dealer. All Polaris told me was to try another dealer. No apologize no nothing. So I went to 3 other dealers before I was happy. I wish you the best of luck.

Do you ever wonder just how many ppl out ther have had to put up with this sort of thing. Do you ever wonder if companies like Polaris don`t deliberately built these things using defective parts just know that most people will never get many hours on them before their extremely abbreviated warranty period runs out, and the they get stuck just llike you and I have. I was told by a now defunct dealer that the warranty period was one year. lota good that does me. You can`t bring legal action against a business that no longer exists. I live by an old adage: Screw me once, shame on you; Screw me twice? That ain`t gonna happen.
At any rate, thanks for your response. Happy Turkey Day from my house to yours. Butch

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Otherwise they would be willing to provide a warranty period comparable with that of other manufacturers.</end quote></div>
That is comparable with other manufactures except Bomb. Bomb has a 3 year. At least on mine it did.
This is why I have a problem with EFI on quads and thinks that play in dirt. They just have not got the EFI hardened up enough.

You act like your the only one to have a problem. Look, my TPS was out of adjustment from the dealership. I brought it in and they had it for 45 days. 1/6th of my warranty was used up in the shop. Its fixed and I learned to just fix it myself if it breaks. Do you really think Polaris made the TPS sensor? No, they had it manufactured. All manufacturers have problems, sometimes you get a really good one, sometimes not. I know you didnt have many miles, but if your this angry about it breaking, maybe your in the wrong sport.

I didn`t buy this machine to go play mud man with. I bought this machine because of what it was supposedly capable of doing. I don`t consider ranch or farm work to be sport. Yes I did intend to use it as transportation when hunting, just as I use my tractor to go from one point to another to do something. I don`t consider that to be sport either. If you were easy enough to let them keep your machine for 45 days without raising holy damned hell then you got what you deserved. I don`t and won`t put up with that kind of nonsense and you shouldn`t either. This is just what I`m talking about when I say that Polaris is producing machines with components that they know are defective and leaving us to eat the bullet so they can pad their bottom line. you ought to be as Po`ed as I am and willing to make the kind of noise I`m trying to make. If all of us who have gone through this crap got together and filed a class action suit in U.S. Federal District Court i could guarantee you that Polaris product quality would improve dramatically and quickly. So don`t bust on me because you`re easy. Butch

was I mad? well of course i was. Did i ask for an extension on my warrenty from polaris...of course, i got a $10 gift card at a dealer...whoopee. All I am saying is this stuff happens everyday with cars, boats, cameras, and yes ATV's. I highly doubt Polaris is purposely putting defected parts in there machines...I mean C'mon Really? This is the first I have heard of a TPS going bad, not saying it doesnt happen, just havent heard of it. I guess all I can add is sell it and get a different brand. but expect the same from whoever you buy?

Tipo176 and others. I spent part of saturday at my local dealer with the service mgr and one of his techs, during which time they were able to observe the range of problems(Electronic) that I have been dealing with. The end result, for my machine is that now it won`t do anything. Won`t crank, won`t start, won`t run, and they say they have NEVER,repeat NEVER, seen anything like this. THey say that initially they thought there was a problem within the wiring to the TPS because when they would physically move the pigtail from the TPS it would start running erratically. I asked if they had attempted to disconnect the TPS and observe engine operation and they said that other than the engine not holding an idle condition that it seemed to function as normal. I said If it would run, even if I had to hold the throttle open that I would come and take the machine as I had work I needed to get done.
By the time I got there with the trailer, the machine was running so poorly that it wouldn`t pull itself and the engine finally quit. they attempted to crank the engine while checking the ecu for injector activation and found that now there was a failure of that circuit also.
While all this was going on the service tech made an off hand remark that he has been quite busy lately replacing ECU?POWER MODULES?RECTIFIERS for 06, 07 and 08 500 700 and 800 EFI 4x4`s under a factory recall. He explained to me that Polaris has evidently recognized that the design of the prior years ECU/PoWER MODULE configuration was unacceptable or faulty and that they had attempted to combine them into one unit and that wasn`t working either.
At any rate,I now sit witha machine at the dealer, not sure if I would even want it back even if Polaris was willing to replace all the electronics and restart my warranty as like new. From what I`ve heard by way of email and direct conversation with many Polaris Ranger owners, It appears that Polaris is attempting to pad their bottom line by not being willing to go the extra step and provide replacement electronic components, even at reduced prices, to replace those component s that were evidently faulty to begin with. At this point that is only my opinion. I don`t have any conclusive evidence to prove that, and I`m not sure that one person could acquire any. As athey say, second hand testimony is just heresay in a court of law.
My dealer said he would pursue my getting satisfaction to the extent he is able. Meaning I`ll call them and tell them what we found, but I ain`t gonna put my job or this dealer ship on the line to assure you get satisfaction. It`s the bottom line with all of them. Additionally I was asked if I`d be willing to sell my machine as is for exactly half of what I`ve got in it. I said why sure. I really look like a total dumb S**t don`t I? Now you really got to ask yourself. If this machine was such a piece of junk, why would they want to buy it at any price. I`m sure that at some point in time that quality electronic components will become available for this machine. I`m just not prepared to sit around and wait until who knows when for that to happen. At this point in time I`m looking at a 08 Kawasaki Mule diesel 3010 4x4. I figure if it doesn`t have all the tempermental electronics on it maybe it`ll be ready to work when I am. All feedback on the Kawasaki 3010 diesel will be appreciated. Butch
