Stuck oil filter
Yah good point silverado. I know in town here you can buy a kit with about 10 different sizes based on the number of flutes on the filter. Kind of a waste of money, at this point atleast. I'm gonna giver a whirl with the channel lock pliers, and a nylon ratcheting strap i found. If all else fails i'll buy the polaris end cap wrench thats designed for their filters.
Thanks for the advice all!!

Just a suggestion. On my 700 a few years back a small stone/rock was wedged in between the engine block and filter lip. Small rock, only about the size of a rice crispie, but as I tried to turn the filter off it wedged tighter and tighter and I could not get the filter off untill I found the rock and removed it. I turned it so hard before I found the rock that I pushed the rock right into the aluminum engine block. Just a suggestion for all.

I'd say a small pipe wrench ,heat it up aroud the base with a propane torch</end quote></div>
I wouldn't recommend a torch, but I would recommend a hot air gun to the base to warm up the metal and the old seal, that'll help it spin off a lot easier than a cold and stiff seal. That way you won't risk damaging your ride.

LOL!!! I just had this problem with my son's quad. I used the old Screwdriver trick. I lucked out, it mangled the hell out of it, but with a leather gloved hand holding the outside of the filter, oil leaking everywhere and that big a** screwdriver jammed through the filter, success within my reach!!!!!!
Let us know what worked to finally get it off. The hot air gun seems plausible.
