Ok Guys im new here but need some expert advice my speedo was going on and off for a while now and has now went out most of the time. Not dead but close?

I have schematic and page two but am stumped with the wiring.

Tested

pin one Red 12v
pin2 R/w 11.5
Running these are both over 13V
pin # 4 Black (engine stop) 4.7Von 0v off
and Pin #7 yellow red 5.1 and drops with throttle (rpm) i assume is normal

Now i tested my buddies 07 500 same vdo speedo harness and got the same except his # 4 Black is 12V?

I just DONT want to buy a new speedo and have the wiring be the end of that one also.
My Local dealers just want to put a new speedo in it but i feel there is a possible wiring problem. it will still light up from time to time when it is first started in the morning and work fine and then go out when you start to ride.

Would display Light up if i removed it and jumpered 12V fused to pins #1 and #2 and jumperd ground to #8 Brn?

Any help would be great!

Any one with a 04 VDO speedo for sale?

did you try your buddies speedo on your bike? see if it still does it and if it does then you know its not the speedo.

 

My buddy is too lame and afraid it would fry his speedo!

I plugged it back in today and i got awd and no speedo display, so i wonder if 04 does not need the speedo to use awd? My heated grip went out and i disconected it for now but i still dont have display som maybe the speedo works just no lcd.

I will have to buy a speedo, so for now awd is good and will give me time to find a good deal on one!!!! LOL


Anybody know if a 04 600 twin will run in awd without a speedo?
