When you're driving down the road and engage the all will drive unless you're spinning it won't engage till you slow down enough. If you engage it while you're spinning you can bust the magnets and so on in your front end. The way that system works is very slick if you were spinning at a good rate and the engage it you will do damage. It's sort of like trying to drop your truck in 4 low while moving in 4 hi. Something is going to break.

You are correct there buddy. It SHOULD'NT engage. Mine was starting to engage on it's own in 2wd, that was the start to my diff problems.

This can and does happen with the new style diff's.
Makes you wonder why they changed the design. Oh wait ,I know Economics.

That can happen to the older style diffs as well. My 03 Scrambler locked the hubs in the wheel and it would do that as well but only one side at a time.

Well Caper I borrowed my buddys 06 Outlander 800 with a 60" blade to do my plowing tonight and boy am I glad I got a Polaris. The weight makes a HUGE differance when pushing. We have the same tires and if you didn't hit the packed snow hard it would just sit there and spin. And the blade will not lift very high (Eagle Plow) so trying to push up and over the banks is impossible. It just piles up in front of the pile. And I'm not the only one with diff problems. The fancy Visco-Lock wasn't locking at all so if you hit a bank on the one side it would just spin the bike into the bank and spin like crazy. When I cranked the bars the front end wouldn't pull out of the bank like mine will. I'm almost thinking mine would be as good in 2wd as the Visco-Lock was tonight. Now before the Bomb guys get mad, it wasn't working right and I'm not trying to stir the pot. When I get mine back home and working, I'm gonna let my buddy take mine out and see what he thinks.

Oh and P.S. everytime I see someone with a snow-blower COVERED in snow and looking grumpy I think of you Caper LOL Buy a plow and start to ENJOY cleaning the driveway

Caper,

Just hacking on ya.....LOL.......LOL!

Yea they are calling for like 1-3 inches
around here tonight into tomorrow, unless
the weather forcast just changed which is
SO common for our area, this whole area is working
themselves up into a frenzy, okay okay
I admit it, it would be our 1st snow fall
for the season, maybe a little expected.
(MD-DC-VA area)

And wouldn'y know it, ole R' hasn't even installed
his plow on his new wheeler yet!
