'94 425 magnum won't start, please help.
I hope someone here can help, here's my story....
I have a 09/94 425 magnum. Last used it in July/August of this year. Previous repairs include carb rebuild last year, along with replacing the CDI with an aftermarket part. It ran great till yesterday. I replaced the battery was having some issues with it the last couple of weeks and it not wanting to start. I tested the battery it was bad, replaced it. I tried yesterday and the motor will turn over but will not start. I did the simple things, made sure the kill switch is in the run position, plug is brand new, and replaced air filter. Now the darn thing is flooded, took the plug out it was wet. It never actually popped it just turned over. HEre is my question; how can you check to see if the CDI is bad? I'm wondering if when the battery was going bad if I ruined the CDI unit? I had to start it a couple of times with the pull start. But, my uncle who has the twin to this machine said he burnt his up when the battery died. Any help would be so much APPRECIATED! I live in MI and the snow is coming and with 425' of driveway I'd much rather be pushing than shoveling the snow!

buddy had a 96 i think explorer 250 the battery was dead he pulled started rode it a while it died it burned out the cdi running it with a dead battery.
did you check to see if you have spark?

What's the best way to check this out? I'm not an expert on mechanical issues but have been told that I can screw up the CDI if not done right.... so what do you recommend? Thanks

to check for spark take out the plug put the wire on the plug..hold the end of the plug buy a head bolt turn the ingnition on and turn it over it will spark .. you might need some help pushing the button and watching the plug .

Try a new plug.If that dont work check the valves they set @.006 and have a tendency to tighten up making it hard to start
