Default 96 Scrambler swingarm interchange question...plus bolt hole ?

I have to replace my swingarm bushings in my 96 scrammy 400 and I have a question. (I searched this topic rather diligently for those 'do a search' police out there) I have a swing arm from a 97 sport 400 lying about. It is is about 1 inch longer but otherwise will bolt right in. The shock mount is in the same location and all. Has anyone done this swap? Is the extra length going to add any amount of stability or what? Also, the bolt hole in the frame for the swing arm bolts are 'wallowed out'. What seems to be the best fix for this one? I thought about everything from weld on a new washer to adding some sort of roller bearing to everything between. What have you guys done?
