make sure you do them right the first time...I've done mine three times and the third time i needed a new axle and carrier from the broken bearing ruining the axle and carrier.

I was lucky then, caught mine when founds axle wobble. Thought it was bearing stuffed, but turned out to be simple case of axle nut loose.

When sorted make sure after any reasonable run that:
1. You grease bearing case (not too much as to make grease ooze out of seals - then lets water back in)
2. Check chain play is correct
3. Check torque on axle nut (remeber - left-hand trhead).

Good luck.

I usually take pretty good car of my machine. It had been a while since I greased the bearing case because I've been doing a lot of long rides, so that might have been the problem. Or it could have just been old age. It's 7 years old, I expect things to go wrong like this. I ordered the bearings. When they come in I'll make sure someone gives me a detailes rundown of how to install them correctly.

I got my bearing yesterday and went to the dealer to get the seals, so I'm ready to go. Can someone give me a basic run down on how to install these? Thanks.
