Not any problems with mine at all but why only one rear brake? can you add another caliper on the left side? it looks like theres predilled holes where there should be one. I know the fronts do most the work anyway but wouldnt it be better braking with one on the left too? and would it be easier on the tranny?

There is no differantial action in the rear diff. Where the rear axles go into the trans they go into a solid piece of steel so when one you apply the brake to one wheel it will direcly apply force to the other wheel as well. I don't think I expained it too well, but I hope you get the idear. Think of a solid rear axle, same idea but with CVs. I'm not sure about the X2s with "turf" mode. I don't know if they have brakes on both sides or not but I know the rear ends on them can unlock in "turf" mode. Maybe someone with an X2 could check and see if they have one or two brakes on the rear.

 

X2 has brakes on both rear wheels.

 

Yes, like Scrammy said, the rear axles are locked so no need for brakes on each wheel. Can-Am has one disc in the rear as well. You'd be wasting money if you tried to put a second brake disc on the rear.

 

not to mention less weight back there and w/ hydr. brakes it doesnt take that much to lock up the wheels as well

 

Think there may also be an issue with two brakes if they applied diferent force on each end of a solid axle, thought may cause at least twsiting.

If one is not stopping eenough try uprating break pads or disc design machining.

 

You can have my rear break assly if you want it, I dont ever remember using it except for mashing on it to get it into park. I use the front brakes if needed but the electronic engine break does most of my work.

Your hand brake operates both front and rear brakes! So you use them more than you thought.
