Default hand and thumb warmers

Hey everyone- first time post and most likely not the last. I picked up a used 2001 Polaris Sportsman this past Friday. I am absolutely in love with it. The guy I bought it from had a bunch of extras that came with it. He bought some hand and thumb warmers (Polaris Brand) but never put them on. It doesn't look like there are any instructions with them, so I was wondering if you guys might have some pointers that would help me to install these. The two things I'm wondering about the most is where to wire them up to, and how to install the two switches. Thanks for any help!!!!

thanks!
Jeff

I took a hot wire from the cigerette lighter (accesory port) found a grounded place under the headlight pod for the other wire and put the switch next to the speedo,
Solder your connections or you'll be fixing them alot.
You'll really like those goodies in the winter.

Awesome! I'll plan on doing that. Does anyone have a copy or a link to the original install instructions? I would like to take a peek at them, if they even came with any.

Thanks!

I put both kits on my 08' 800HO this weekend. If your wiring kits are the same as mine (polaris brand), you can clip the wires together without any cutting or splicing to use only one switch instead of two switches.

1. The Red/Blue wire is for high power and goes to terminal #1 on the switch which is the terminal under the LOW side of the switch.
2. The Blue wire is for low power and goes to terminal #3 which is located under the High side of the switch.
3. Power to the switch goes into terminal #2 on the switch which is the middle terminal. You can tap into the cigarette lighter, or you may find a spare 12V (ignition hot) wire under the front cover (under the front of the headlight pod).
4. The brown wires are ground, and you can tap them into the ground for the cigarette lighter or attach them to the chassis for a good ground.

Mine work great, and the high setting seems way too hot for me.

Tips:
1. Make sure you wire the thumb warmer wires so they don't restrict throttle travel or get stretched at full throttle.
2. Test for function before you reinstall the headlight pod cover so you don't have to tear it back off if things aren't working normally.

Hope this helps...

Thanks SpudRacer! That write up will be a GREAT help for me!! I'll let you know how it goes after I find the time to actually get it done. Do I have to take the front rack off to get the plastic off to wire it?
