What's the best GPS for trail use. I have had 2 Magellan in 2 week's waranty replacement's and I am a little pissed at quality. I want something easy to use, TO FIND THE WAY OUT!

Garmin eTrex. Many models. Pick the model that suits your needs. Have used one for years with no complaints, as have many friends.

Lowrance H2O color or BW. RAM mounted to the bars. They take the map chips if you desire...great all around GPS. Had my H2OC mounted for 2 years now, run it on the ice, been out in -30. Never a problem! Use the 12V plug or Lithium batteries, I personally run the lithiums...they last for a long, long time!

My wife uses it during deer season to get from stand to stand, in and out of the woods, she loves it as well!

mine is is quite old so I have to download maps to it and I never have done that. I use mine to be able to go where I want to and it tells me how to get back out the way I came or by N S E W. YOu can set waypoints of the spots you like to get back to. It will also draw a line on the screen of where you drive and you can save it as your own map to use in the future. They gps' today have many more features like map but I dont know if they have trail maps or not.

Like I said I just use mine to prevent from getting lost (cuz I suck at directions) LOL

Yes, the H20's are totally water proof! I've thrown some of the worst conditions at this unit! Mines never been submerged but has been REALLY wet and or frozen. Last spring, late ice we got hit by some heavy rain, she never missed a beat!! This fall, got hit by freezing rain while deer hunting, the thing was a block of ice, had a coating over the entire unit...wife left on the wheeler while in her stand. Had to bring the entire mount and gps inside it was all froze together, let her thaw out, good as new!! As far as mounting goes, I use what's called a RAM mount, they make mounts for all sorts of electronics, GPS's, etc...

As far as the mapping chips go, I just use the lakemaster chips in mine, basically gives all the lake contours...very accurate! You can buy the mapping software and map out some pretty cool stuff, your own trails, state trails and load it on the chip, etc. I havn't got into creating my own maps but I here you can get pretty in depth and do some cool stuff... Here's the link for mapcreate...http://www2.lowrance.com/Produ...apCreate7/default.asp

Dug up a link for the mount...http://www.gpscity.com/item-ra...t-mount/ramb149lo3.htm
