i agree with these guys. the guy i ride with all the time has a 2000 explorer 400, and that thing goes!! correct me if i'm wrong but doesn't that thing have more hp. than the h.o.?? either way it's a great machine for the price and he hasn't had any problems. he tows things and plows a road with it. buy it.

Bought a 2001 explore 4x4 250 and love it paid $4100 for it and It is better that my 1999 300 4x4 and my friends big bear. With the all wheel drive and the 2x4 and 4x4 botton you can play and slide in the snow but then you hit the button and all four lock. Not to mention being so cheap i can put $1000 worth of toys on it and have a real mean 4x4 pipe it and clutch and that give it 30 hp and when hdp come out with the new reed valve jug that gives it 12 more hp. That means 40 plus hp. Not bad for a $4100 dollor machine. And the suspention is great. Gas milage is very good and it jumps pretty good for a 4x4 also... good luck

250R89, the 400Xplorer has plenty of torque for working, pulling, hauling, etc. PLUS, it is very fun to ride. It feels lighter and more agile over my SP. For the money, I would check one out, they are good machines. Ride-em hard Polcat

I have one of the Xplorer 400s and use it to tow wagons and stuff around every now and then. It and a Grizzly are the only 2 quads I ever personally saw that could 'roost' all 4 tires on dry grass. Many quads can break the tires loose if they have to, what I am referring to is having enough wheel speed to throw a roost up in the air. The speedo will read up around 20 when doing this. Best power-to-weight ratio of any stock utility quad I ever rode (haven't rode them all yet, though).
Hitch to hitch, a Magnum or Sportsman will drag me around (due to higher weight) but in any kind of race, it rules!
Mine has close to 3600 miles (yes, still - didn't get to ride much at all last 2 months) but has had absolutely zero breakdowns. Still on the original chain and brakes (although brakes are gettin' thin). My brother has an Xpress 400 (same beast, just not 4wd) with 5000 miles, and the only thing that brole on his so far was the little spring on the park brake release. We are both on original belts, also, although his is starting to fray. Good machines for the power.
Our dealer had the 400 Xplorer a while back for $4899 out the door, cash deal.

Hey, Bill, how is the repair holding up on your concentric drive system? Weren't you the guy having problems with the chain tension who wound up getting some parts fixed under warranty? Just curious if they treated you right.

The Xplorer sounds like a mean work/trail bike. Is there anything else in its class that has more grunt? The guy who is buying the 4x4 wants a pure worker and hunting machine, and a little soft trail riding too. can you guys name all of the atvs (Polaris,Articcat, ect), power points, leisure points ect ect.
Thanks
Thanks
