Default 98 sp500 rev limiter question

Will unhooking the black wire to the rev limiter affect 4x4 in any way? My 4x4 is not working. I had to unhook my rev limiter because my shifter switch has gone bad and bike thinks its is in reverse. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If the switch in the shifter is bad you will need to replace it to get the 4x4 to work.

My '95 magnum gear selector switch was bad too, I ended up jumping past the switch for AWD. Just jumper the red/white wire with the grey/white and purple wire to have power to the AWD switch at the junction box. Grey/white is the FWD circuit and the purple is the REV circuit. Switch costs $87.

Unhooking the black wire WILL do away with your 4x4! You have to by-pass the over-ride switch. Do plenty of research and make sure you can find the wires others talk about b/c this was a major problem with my job.

Unhooking the blk wire from the reverse limiter on dis ables the yellow button for reverse still have to hold it in for 4x4 in reverse.Does not affect 4x4 in forward.

ftwflh it did disable my 4x4 all together. i hooked it back up and it worked again. I have now by-passed the over-ride switch so all works like it should and cost me nothing but a lil time.
