Default 2005 Scrambler running rough...

We have a 2005 Scrambler that has less than 10 hours of riding time. It ran fine the last time we rode it but now it won't stay running unless we leave it 1/2 choked at all times. We changed the spark plug but it still does it. Man was changing the spark plug a real pain!!

How in the heck is it that we need to clean the jets already??!!! I can only imagine how much work that is based on changing the spark plug!! The engineers on these puppies need to have riders that do their own work right next to them when they are designing where the parts go!!! Is there any way to use a jet cleaner without pulling the carb? I'm just looking for something a little easier to try first

hi,what you can try is running the quad with gumout, pull the air filter spray in carb be careful, spray only in carb, run it for 10 seconds, use tube, fuel filter is only $2.bad fuel? how much play in your throttle?only should be 1/16-1/8.

I would guess the throttle cable has streached just a bit since leaving the factory and needs to be adjusted just a bit, I would run it back to the dealer and let them fix it free of charge.

I just got off the phone with the dealer and since it is a 2005 he is saying that he will have to charge me for it and based on the description of my problem he thinks it is the pilot jet and it is all gummed up from sitting around and not being rode. He is 2 weeks out on repairs and he said minimum is $115 to fix it

The jets can get plugged by cheap gas or even a speck of dirt.
If you have the time it isnt hard to take the jets out and clean them. The hardest part is getting te plastic and gas tank off.

Tell me about it! It just took me 2 hours to take the plastic and gas tank off and then get the carb out. Now I'm tyring to get one of the screws out of the bottom of the carb. They tightened it real good and it doesn't want to come out! Now more beer and back at it.... I still can't believe how complicated it is to work on these puppies!!

it gets easier with time.I can have my carb off and back on in about an hr now.
On that screw take a phillips screwdriver and tap the end with a hammer then try turning it.

Just finished!! I tried the hammer trick but it didn't work. I took the dremel tool and ground out a straight line and got it off with a big straight screw driver. So it was about a 4 1/2 hour job for me but now it is running great. The pilot jet was jammed full of crap. Thanks for the help guys!!
