Clutch and Belt issue
#1
I have got a question but ill give the info first.
So i snorkeled my polaris 700 efi this week and everything is sealed up really good. i put a heelclicker clutch kit in with the weights it said to put in, 3.5grams and 4.5 and 4.5 in the middle and front. Brand new belt put on and i take the bike out for the first ride, and i get in some water in a little river and im going against the water and it feels like the belt is slipping so then i notice there is smoke coming out of the exhust stack of the snorkel and i smell it really bad so i get pulled out of the river and i take off my plug to drain water out of the belt but there is not a drop of water in there it was bone dry so i know the snorkels worked and did there job but i cant see why it burnt my belt off and it was brand new now i had to get another one.
Has anyone got any ideas why it would do that i only got 27 mud lites and i got a clutch kit in the bike. when i felt the belt cover case it was so hot it wasnt even funny. anyone have any ideas what would make the belt do that so i dont burn this one off on my first ride.

first thing im going to ask did you put the kit in correctly? i think on the 700's you have to shim the spider. i would have tested the set up before i put the cover back on to make sure it was correct. was you going real slow so the clutch wasnt turning fast enough to keep the belt cool. also if the belt was was slipping then it would run extremly hot as well. just a couple of idears.

what do u mean by shim the spider, explain i dont understand im new to atv clutchs. and i had the bike in low gear and i was going at a good speed not to slow.
my 700 efi is an 05 so what is it i have to do to make this run right?

i sold my kit to scrammytod so he had the instructions, but i remeber reading on the 700's theres a shim that goes into the spider. maybe ask scrammytod if you dont have the install instructions. this was on last years model h/c so it might have changed.

The kit hasn't changed. The shim the spider the primary clutch has to come off and there is a special tool to get the spider off. I don't have the instructions near me, but when I get to them I'll scan them and post them.
What springs did you put in it??

so i have to do that for sure to get the clutch to work right, i think im going to have to take the bike to the dealer or something to get it working right, this sucks the instructions from hc didnt say anything about shimming anything.
When u get the instructions could u pm them to me or post them somewhere. thanks

wayner the instructions(heelclicker) he has says right in them on the 700's you have to shim the spider for sure. if you can take the clutch off take it to the dealer w/ a spider tool to have them put it in for ya. you should have had the shim(washer) w/ the kit.
