Can someone explain how to replace the belt on a 1998 Sportsman 500. Also instructions on taking apart the primary clutch, and what componets to look for that might be worn. I would really appreciate it...Thanks

you have to get the clutch puller for the primary clutch. run the puller in with your impact gun and the primary will come right off. There is a bushing on the cover that has 6 bolts on it that hold the spring in place, that gets worn. Check the spring for signs of fatigue. The only way to get the spiders apart is to have the special tool to do it. easier to take it to a shop and take it apart. clean the sheaves, run a scotchbrite pad on the sheaves, there are also 6 buttons in between the spiders that go bad. Thats pretty much it on rebuilding the clutch. Unless yours is EBS, which i don't think it is, if it is, then theres EBS washers in it as well
