Default K&N air filter and precharger for the X2....

Howdy everyone.....I have a 2007 Sportsman 500 X2 Camo and as before, I have said "I like it a lot....a whole lot"....and still do. Great machine. I also have heard and read that the K&N air filters will add a little more giddyup and go, power, etc. to the motors. So I went ahead and bought the filter and precharger. Took the ride out to a flat dirt road and marked off a short length of the road for my test. The stock airfilter is still on the quad, the X2 warmed up and from a dead stop, full throttle to my end mark, it hit 47 mph....twice. Now I pulled the stock airfilter and replaced with the K&N airfilter (PL 1003) and precharger. Did the same routine and still did 47 mph...twice. The motor sounded a little different at idle and takeoff (i think) but no more goody than the stock filter. I'm not much for major mods to my X2 but the airfilter seemed like a minor "mod" to try. The good thing is that the K&N is able to be cleaned and used again. This may not be scientific but was fun to try out. By the way......I am leaving the K&N in my X2.

They are meant to clean air and last a long time. Contrary to popular belief they are not a performance item.

The K&N will flow better than the stock filter but you need to add some performance mods to see any benefit. The stock filter is designed to flow enough for the stock engine.

Add a muffler and Dobeck controller and you can see a differance.
