Default 07 Sportsman 500 deluxe

I recently got stuck in a huge mud hole, while I was trying to get my self out, I noticed in 4x4 only one front tire was spinning. We have 7 other sportsmans, ranging form 02-08 and both wheels spin on all of them.

The 08 we have as the switch that you can lock in the front, my 07 does not.

Does anyone know for sure of both front wheels should be spinning?

Thanks for any info!

They both should be spinning. The '08 has a third position on the switch, not exactly to "lock in the front" rather to have AWD without ADC. Both AWD positions result in true AWD, just one without ADC.

So, do you know if you still have only three wheels spinning now that you have the ATV back home?

I haven't jacked it up yet to check it, But I could tell for sure that both back tires and only the left front were spinning when I was stuck.

Thanks for the info, I will jack it up tomorrow and let you know. And by the way this is brand new. I have owned the wheeler for a month now, and it has been in the shop for 3 weeks.

I have 2 rides on it! But when everything is working right I sure love this bike!

all polaris models are true AWD so im trying to figure this-<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>The 08 we have as the switch that you can lock in the front, my 07 does not. </end quote></div> they dont have differnt switches as only one button for the awd.

Sounds like something is broken in the front end. Jack it up to see whats not right.

The 08 has 2 more buttons for the front diff then the 07. One is one the awd selector and one is one the gauge cluster.

Well, I jacked it up and checked it out. Looks like the Front right hub is shot. The cv boot is ripped up and I can see the hub gears are not connecting. Shaft is spinning but the hub and wheel are not.

Looks like its back to the dealership on tuesday, again. This wheeler has been in the shop more then in my garage. At least its up warranty!

You never know whats in a mudhole. Check them out in the summer and you'll find lots of crap in there; wood boards, tires, metal, etc. Something like that might have torn your CV boot and the rest is history.

No, I have been hearing a clicking for a while. Dealership told me that was normal. Well, now I dont hear it. The mud hole just gave me a chance to see the front wheels spinning, or the lack of.
