250 Trailboss won't run
#1
Help! My trailboss kinda died this afternoon. It has been running fine since I rebuilt the tranny and got it back on the dirt. I was riding it this afternoon and stopped to adjust the shift rod (little too long) I cranked it back up and now it won't go. It cranks and idles but when you give it gas, it sounds like it getting too much (or too little) No adjustment of the carb helps. I pulled the carb off to clean it thinking something may have gotten sucked down from the tank. Still nothing.

it'll crank fine, idles good and you can give it a little throttle before it starts running bad. but you can crank it and it will sit and idle all day long! Just won't take the gass. It starts skipping, popping, etc at around 1/4 throttle. My first thought was bad spark plug, but I don't think so now. I pulled the breather off, when I gun the throttle, I get a mist of gas coming out of the carb towards the air box.(don't know if that is normal or what, just added for info)
Thanks,
Ernie

I think it has to do with the adjustment you made on the linkage. It might think it's in reverse, and the limiter is activated. Try pushing the reverse over ride and see what happens. Doc

drlane is right if its popping or skipping like its in reverse w/out the override pushed in and your backing up fast the limiter kicks in. does it sound like that? if so then maybe the linkage is off now.

Thanks! That was the problem. I'm new to a Polaris and didn't know it had such a thing!
