Default Cold weather move

I moved from AZ to MN and have an 800 sportsman EFI. First time out i broke a belt,I figured cause I did'nt give enough warm up time to quad. been out few times since and with good warm up no problems. anything I should pay attention to extra just in case because of weather change?

Thanks for any input

it shouldn't make any differnce in what tempture you ride in for the belt. if anything the belt would run cooler. they have a life time warranty on the belt so maybe you can ask a dealer if they will go good for a new one if it actually broke because of a defect.

Thats odd, I give no warm up time for a belt on my ATV or snowmachines and its cold up here.

from the Polaris Manual

Always warm up the belt by operating below 30 mph for
one mile (5 miles or more when temperature is below
freezing).

Warm the engine at least 5 minutes. With the transmission
in neutral, advance the throttle to about 1/8 throttle in
short bursts, 5 to 7 times. The belt will become more flexible
and prevent belt burning.

Always warm up the belt by operating below 30 mph for
one mile (5 miles or more when temperature is below
freezing).

I took out 2 belts on my 2002 700 in the winter with improper warm up. 10 below right now. Polaris dosn't have the limited lifetime warraty on their belts anymore. They will not warranty it for a shattered belt anymore according to their belt failure poster that hangs in our dealership. In fact they really wont cover a belt for anything anymore.
