Clutch? Belt?? something else???

First off, THANKS for the help on my reverse overide problem earlier. Got linkage readjusted and it's fine. NOW I'm noticing something else..............
When you start off, it moves REALLY slow, no power. It won't climg a hill from a dead start. After it gets going, the darn thing will outrun my Arctic Cat with no problem. Also noticed a noise from the clutch area. Is this a clutch problem? Belt problem? or both!
Is there anyway to give it more power/torque from the take-off?

I just got back home. i'll pull the cover tomorrow night and get back. would the clutch/belt be the cause of the TB "shuddering" (real quick but small jerking) on take-off? Also, are there supposed to be any kind of spacers on either clutch? I had some large diameter washers left-over from the tranny rebuild that I could not remember where they went. (that's what happens when you take something apart for the first time and don't get around to putting it back together for a couple months!)

By the way...................
When I pull the cover off, what should I be looking at/for? (Remember, I'm new to Polaris. I still don't fully understand this belt/clutch thingy!)

I see you had the transmission apart so you've been in there before. Measure the width of the belt. The up and down play of the belt is called deflection, measure that. Also give the engine a wiggle to see the condition of the engine mounts, the center to center of the clutches should be 10 inches. Get in there. Doc
