You should be asking these questions of someone who sells the warrantees. Like any commodity that's resold, list price is negotiable so the best time to buy an extended warrantee is when you're purchasing the machine so you have some leverage, just like asking for a discount on accessories with your major purchase.

There are "genuine Polaris extended warrantees" and aftermarket extended warranties. I've experience both over many years. The first difference is any Polaris dealer can honor your "genuine" Polaris warrantee. Only dealers signed up with the aftermarket warrantee provider can honor an aftermarket warrantee (actually, there's usually a clause that allows for reimbursement of your expenses for covered repairs in the event you can't find an affiliated service provider but it's usually a complicated and frustrating process).

Also consider that an extended warrantee that requires your dealer to jump through hoops of fire to get something covered is one he'll be less inclined to cooperate with you on. The current "genuine" Polaris extended warrantee (underwritten by GE I think) is very dealer friendly so you can expect good service from it. Another nice feature is it's prorated so if you sell the machine and the buyer doesn't see any value in what's left of your warrantee you can cash the remainder of it in.

i just bought a polaris and started a trread about wheather to buy or not, all said dont because polaris star sucks and after the six month factory is up they will not cover anything. my dealer told me they quit selling them to customers due to this.

i know when talking to a couple of dealers sometimes polaris wants them to send the part back or take pics. of it to prove that it was a warranty item. its like anything else, nobady wants to spend extra money after the sale w/ a problem. its a roll of the dice for sure w/ out the warranty, but if they dont cover what they should because the dealer wont go to bat for you, you wasted your hard earned mney. so ask 100 questions before you buy for sure. imo.

You're right stendori a good Dealer is a key factor in the after sale of these extended warrantee's , i got the 6 month factory warranty and the 2 year Cat Care warranty on my 2006 AC 400 FIS Auto 4x4 ; and my Dealer told me the Cat Care warranty was better than the factory warranty !

She also told me before the 2 year warranty ran out Cat Care would send a letter to both the Dealer and the purchaser/buyer about renewing the atv for 2 more year's before the original 2 year warranty ran out , she told me that Cat Care was the best way to go because since 2001 when she became an AC Dealer that the factory warranty was the one who not only wanted a picture ; but also the part to determine if it was covered !

But with Cat Care she had no problem's getting a quad covered under warranty , and that is why she doesn't ask her customer's if they wanted an extended factory warranty ; and she goes the extra mile to get thing's covered under warranty !

I know this is a Polaris thread but Dealer's are Dealer's , and it's important to find the best one ; to get the best Deal before and after the sale !........
