Hauling in a pick up
#1
Not sure how many here haul their ATV in the back of a pick up. I am short on space, and was thinking abut loading my SP 800 in backward to see if that makes any more room. With it in frontwards, the rear tire is only on the bed of the truck by a few inches... Then again I have a Toyota Tundra so I am only working with a 6' box.
Any help would be great
Thanks.

you better make sure you dont have a windsheilf on or the storage box is shut completely latched. i found a front cover off a backwards loaded sportsman because the wind ripped it right off. i would just leave your tailgate down and strap it real good. ive never had any problems doing it when i had ashort box.

Thanks, but something I should have added to the original post.... I need to put my ice shack on a hitch hauler... So the tailgate has to be off.
You can bet I will make sure the front deck is down and latched... and no windshield.

the bike should fit in a 6' bed but if you have a winch or something on front watch it doesnt go thru the window. i have to put a 2/4 in my truck in the bed grooves so it doesnt go to far forward and hit the window. good luck.

Have you looked at the Louisiana Guard Dog, I use it to hold my rubicon in the truck and it works great. It also gives you another receiver that is rated for a 2000 lb trailer, I don't know if that is enough for your hitch hauler and ice shack but you could give it a look. Plus it is designed for the tailgate to be left on which gives you a little more room in the bed.

I can't close my tailgate in my Dodge Long bed if I pull my 800 in forward, (I have a tool box in the bed) but if I back it in I can close my tail gate with no problems

Ok. It is really cold out (5 degrees, 23mph wind= -17 wind chill) and I just spent an hour out trying different ways of loading. This is the easiest and seems to work well.
Tail gate off, wheeler in fwd, and shack on the hitch hauler.

It is a tight fit with the wheeler in a 6' box. I loose a little room with my roll up bed cover, but it does fit...
