Scrambler clutch problems?!?!?! please HELP ASAP!
#1
I took the quad out for a spin around the yard, and walked away p*ssed. When in gear, without even touching the throttle, the quad goes forward slowly. It's even more noticeable when in reverse. Is it the clutch engaging improperly??? or is it the tranny???or maybe just the throttle adjustment??? Please help me! I'm supposed to go riding tomorrow!
Should i go riding tomorrow(1/14/01)? How much would the repair cost? Can you explain the problem to me as best as possible?
PLEASE HELP ME Thanks!!!

Try taking the clutch cover off, put it in 2wd. support it so the rear wheels are off the ground, start it and see whats happening in neutral then put it in gear and see whats up. Before you start it look at the front drive clutch the belt should not be touching the sides or if they are very slightly. If it is possibly there is something hanging up not allowing the the clutch to retract.
I`m not clutch expert or even close but I know at an idle the front drive clutch should spin without engaging the belt.
I know how ya feel it`s time to ride and there`s problem. If I knew more about clutches I might advise or not advise to ride. Good Luck
This should be a fairly easy check just BECAREFUL OF ROTATING PARTS!

It sounds like either your primary or secondary clutch isn't disengaging all the way. Did you do any work on the clutches or put a new belt on. That could be the problem to. You should be able to drive it without hurting it.

I put a new belt on 3 days ago. Just from telling you that, what could be a problem as a result of that???
