Purchasing Advice(New to quads)
#1
I have a coworker who recently bought 2 used quads(he has had them for only a few months), but is now in a bind financially and wants to sell them- a 2000 Polaris 500 Sportsman, a Polaris 2000 Magnum 500, and trailer, for what I think is a good deal.($5000).
I live in Mississippi, am married and have 2 toddlers and just plan on using them for mild-moderate conditions (I don't plan to try to cross the English Channel,LOL) I have never owned a quad and so I have no experience. I was just hoping for some friendly advice:
Is this a decent price for these? (if they are in good condition.)
What should I look for/at when I go to test drive them?
Is there some common problems I can expect with these models?
Also,is there any "extra" routine maintainance I need to be aware of?
Thank you so much for your time.

Sounds like a fair deal!
Check the common stuff, tires, belts brakes, balljoints, how do they run? etc......I'd expect to pay around $2000 per quad and whatever the trialer may be worth.
If any problems exist plan on paying a lot$$$ to have them repaired.
ATV parts and labor is expensive.

Sounds like a good deal if they're in good shape. Not sure how the market is there though?? Here (MN)the machines are worth 2800-3000 and 2 place aluminum is 600-800 depending on model, steel is 300-600...(snowmobile style flat bed). Everyhting considered..good shape.
