i have a 99 400 scrambler 4*4. i need to pull the drive clutch off and get a new one. i know they sell pullers for this application, they are 35 bucks. has anyone ever made a home made puller out of a bolt. i cant see spending 35 bucks on a puller that looks like a 10 inch grade 8 fine thread bolt with some threads dyed in the middle of it. i am pretty crafty and can weld i want to make my own puller. any info will help. i need to get that clutch assembly off. also need to purchase a good clutch assembly. the belt sheave is damaged on mine. anyone from my area have one?

If you plan on keeping this or any Polaris quad SPEND the $$$$ and get a puller you will use it more than you think.

must be nice to have access to a c&c machine lol. good looking tools. as long as the bolt you get is long enough your all set. just get a 8 or 9" bolt and that should do it.

yeah its nice to have access to a machine shop. I am only in high school. I am one of the top ones at the school and in the area in both autos and metals. Most of the time I am out smarting the teachers.
Here is a pic of the clutch puller with the dimensions. The thread pitch is 3/4-16 fine.
