Prices new sportsmans

Hi all
Just wondering how much you pay in the states for a new quad
I was quoted here in Australia $8995 for a 07 sportsman 450. $9995 for an 08 500ho carb. I am unsure which one to get, I think the 500 will be better as its an o8 plate. Do they use a lot more gas than a 450? Currently our dollar is 90% of yours.
I am getting $4500 for my 04 400 with 620 hours on it.
The accessories are very expensive here too $500 for front and rear rack extenders and a tow hitch.
Cheers
Scott

'07 450 MSRP is $6299.00, '08 500 HO is $5999.00. The 450 is 455 cc displacement, with a 34 mm CV Mikuni carb; and the 500 HO is 495 cc displacement with a 40mm CV Mikuni carb. The 500 HO may accelerate quicker, but overall power will probably be the same.
There will be no difference in fuel economy. For my money the 500 isn't worth the extra $1000.00 they are asking for it. There is only 40cc difference in the engine, the rest is pretty much the same according to manufacturer specs.

ask your self if the 400 was enough power to make you happy and if so then the 450 will be get fine. these 2 bikes arepretty much the same except for the engine.the 07' is the last year of 450 and went back to the sportsman 400(old hawkeye model) and used the same engine as the 455cc as the 450 model. agreed that for $1,000 for more the 500 carb model isnt worth it unless it was the efi. imo.
