Pull Start
#2
I know the Military version of the sportsman has a pull start on it. I'm not sure if you can buy that part extra or not. Someone out there probably makes something for it but let me say it would be a job to pull start one.

Don't bother unless the 700 has a decompression. It took two of us to pulling on the rope to turn over a 660 Grizzly. Some people go the other way and remove them on Polaris. The pull handle is the only thing that stops mud and water from going into the recoil housing. Once mud and water get in (And it will) its on your $350 stator, pulse coil and flywheel. Its a bad set up to say the least.

I totally agree with all that was said above. My 500 h.o. could be a bear to pull and I had to drain mud and water more than once from the recoil area due to water slipping in around the pull handle. Let me say that in the winter it tends to cause your starter bendix to freeze up if it gets wet in the recoil cover. Just keep your battery good and charged or if a jump is needed on the trails cut up your winch power leads if need be to get you out of the woods.

Great info.....I was curious since my old 650 Kaw Par had one and was pretty
easy.
Thanks Again....I guess this ol' 50 year old rookie will learn a few things here.
Thanks Anthony

i have an MV-- and it is HARD to pull and has a compression release. However, if the battery is dead dead-- it won't even start and it is a carb-- the newer electrical system (02 700 included) means you'll have to pull start until the battery has enough charge to fire the ignition-- well.. that doesn't happen with a dead dead battery.. .if it is weak, it will work.
