hey i have a 2005 polaris sportsman 500ho and i was wondering if u could tell me why it wont keep charge and when we get it going it says its over heating and u drive 5 feet and it quits and shuts off and the fan stays on when the key isnt in the bike and all the switches are turned to off im thinking its the the ecm but we had the recall done is they anyway to check to see if thats the problem.

 

It is a ECM...(PDM).............if the fan is running without the battery...........That what controls it for sure!!!!.....I went through it already!!!!.........Caper..............

 

.eeewwwww......I tell you what you need to do polaris005, make a new post and hope stendori, caperinmuskoka and scrammytodd answer your post. These guys are the ones that really helped me tremendously. I would be afraid to say what is going on with yours, I am too new to the fixing side of things - but my feeble and humble guess would be a short somewhere. Now click your heels together and repeat after me - help me Mr. Polaris Wizard, help me Mr. Polaris Wizard, help me Mr. Polaris Wizard. Just kidding....the guys I mentioned before are your best bet and to get their help...make a completely new post.

Polaris 005............Bad ECM or PDM...Elect. Control Module or Power Distribution Module!!
I am on my third one with my 2006 Sp 450.....And the stuff you just told me ...I am for sure that what it is
!!!!!!..The dealer can test these from what I hear!!...Caper.........

 

My friend has a 2005 john deere trail buck 650 EX and he was driving it and all the sudden it took the knockin and then quit, it will still run at an idle but as soon as you give it any gas it will start knocking and stall out, it does not smoke or spit oil. just wondering if u can help him out thank.

 

i have the same quad and it done the same thing i went and baught a high dollar harly batt. and have had no problems since then except with the carb i need a new one by the way if you can suggest where i can find one cheap
