Anyone change their own tires?

I need to change the rear tires on an 05 Pheonix. I've changed plenty of dirt bike tires but never a quad. Is it possible or practical to do it myself? I was going to buy the tires online as I found great price and free ship.

i do as well, but have to do it the old fashion way. lol. i use my truck to break down the tires. the hardest part isa breaking down the tire and then using bars the same way you would on the bikes.

i managed to break one tire down useing a jack and the bumper of my trusty ole dodge, and said that was WAY too much work..so i did the other 3 on the tire machine at work..discount tire does the for about $5.00..in my opion its that worth the heart ache for 5.00 a tire

What a freaking job that is to break down a tire by hand. I will never do that again. I even used a bead breaker. (If it was just one tire, maybe.) I have replaced dirt bike tires by hand, but they are larger around so there is more leverage, not near as much work.
Here's a story about the bead on 4 wheeler tires. I ran over a hidden stump on my polaris, bent the steel wheel on the inside edge where the tire beads. Instant flat, wouldnt hold air. Rode the polaris 2 1/2 miles back to where we were camped on the flat tire and bent rim. Never Broke the Bead. Pounded on the rim to get it back in place to hopefully hold air. Never Broke The Bead. Eventually got it to hold air and rode the next two days on it. Never Broke the Bead!!!!

I did mine at my brother in laws house - he's an auto mechanic and has the car tire changing press - STILL A BITCH. Dont do it yourself - pay someone at a shop to do it. It took us about an hour. rediculous. they fit really tight. I will never do it again .....WITH a tire press no less!! screw it - im paying someone else!

I'm cheap too when it comes to doing it myself BUT DAMN. I would rather clean the bathrooms, mop the floors, do the laundry, make dinner, ironing and do the dishes for the rest of my life!! OK now I have gone overboard........

a buddy of mine bought new tires for his scrambler the old ones were oprignal ( 9 years old)..i sat back and watched him and another guy that knew what he was doing(lol).. 2 hrs later they were finishing up the last tire useing the jack and bumper method and then they relized all of the tires were on the same direction..hah,ha i said after drinking about 8 beers, but needles to say thats how i learned discount tire does them for 5.00, he took the ones that were on backwards there the next day... i told them to watch the direction they were installing them in, but then again i am just a DODGE DUMMY.. thats the story of how i learned my buddys were idiots.. funny story ha!
