2008 800 Paint/Oil Question
#1
I just purchased a 2008 SP800 last week and searched here for some answers but haven't found them.
The manual says to use PS4 2W-50 synthetic oil. Huh??? Always used Mobil1 0W-40 in the older bikes, I assume this will be okay in the new 800?
How is everyone protecting the new painted plastic? Are you all using regular car wax?
Have only put about 0.3 miles on her but what a difference from the 700. I want to get all my mods done and a good coat or 2 of wax on before I start the mudding. Thanks for any advice.

Congrats on your new toy.
I used Mobile1 0W-40 and Pledge to wax it. Never been on an 800 but I think the only difference is they are a little quicker in a drag race. Trails were I ride there's no difference. Deep mud, steep hills, slick rocks, they both handle it very well. (riding buddy has an 800SP)

the new oil is the 2-50. thats what im using in my 08' 800. i think the higher number (2w50) is for because these bike run hotter so the oil wont break down as much. just a guess. i use "plastic coat" wax on my painted and non painted wheelers w/ good results. it helps take the fine scratches out as well.
