scrambler 500 exhaust ??
#1
I have a 2002 and a 2005 scrambler both with the 500 in them. I want to put on an exhuast but I really only want to do a slip on muffler instead of the whole thing. I want it to help keep the engine cooler and to give a little more power, BUT I don't want it to be too loud. I also want to do it without having to do any other mods. What do you say I should do. What have you done and how did it work out for ya? How is your sound level compared to the stock sound?

Slip on exhausts are pretty common for these models.
95% of them will make it louder. I think it's HMF that makes a quiet core exhaust, but I don't know if it's for those models.
Just a slip on exhaust itself shouldn't require any rejetting, but it's best to do a plug check rather than relying on guessing.

The 2 best for a 500 Scrambler are the White Bros which sounds great and can be had with a quiet core. The next best is FMF and it isnt too loud at all.You shouldnt have to rejet with either of these pipes even if you go with a K&N or foam air filter.
The best mod you can do on one is clutch work.If you arent ready to drop the $$$$$ for a complete kit go with just a front spring like the Polaris white aka 400 Scrambler stock spring or for more umph a Dalton BLK/White.About $30 each and well worth it.

i just got a can from hot seat performance. its really nice. good deep throatier sound, a lil loud not too bad. i have a dyno jet kit with a K and N filter. had to raise the e-clip to the 4th level to get the take off right on. i have the same motor as you. you wont have to rejet if you dont have a aftermarket air filter. keep in mind a jet kit does give you more performance and those are like $50 from dynojet

I didnt have to rejet until I did a airbox mod kit. Even with a pipe and filter change. Now if you put on a complete system you will need to rejet.
