I am lookin for at least 5 people that has had a fire with their Polaris and have not received any help from them, Please -> PM <- me. Thank you.

 

I read on one of these forums that Polaris just released a recall for fires partly due to faulty ecm's

 

a fire from what would be my question? the ecm like most recalls any co. does is for a fire safety issue.

 

Mornin Boys, On the new recall list they left out the vin numbers, The models don't mean nothing. I have been helping a buddy for over a year now because his burnt up and took his shed and lean to and I think it was $20.000 worth of tools. New sears riding lawn mower included,

 

After that fire a year ago........Is (was) his on the new recall list now , I mean if he still had the Quad?................I think about that alot, I have both of my 450's in my Garage, along with many other toys, and the reason I worry so much is that my blue 450 is now on the third ECM and my wife's Yellow one is still on the Factory one!!!!.....WHY?????.......

The one ECM issue that worry's me is when my cooling fan came on and ran without the key even in there until the battery was dead!!!.....This could have caused a fire due to the extra load on the fan and the current (LOAD) traveling for that long through the wiring!!!.......Not issues to be playing around with Polaris "SHOULD" take these and act very responsable in a Quick manner .......NOT TWO YEARS LIKE WHAT IS HAPPENING NOW!!!!!!!!...........Caper..........

 

Two years! I bought a 2004.5 sp 500 in June of 2004. In December of 2004 the ECM got hot and melted the plastic inside the ECM and when we took it out smeled burnt and hot. All functions on the ATV were lost and we had to tow it home off the trails. It was under warranty and was replaced but the VIN was never recalled until now I think. It took over three years for something to come about.

 

I thought the 2005 were recall when I bought my 2006.....I know there was a recall for them at that time ......but yours was not included I see!!!.............Anyway.....It take Polaris a long time to act!!!........

can it overheat and start fir if its been sittin there for a week? does it have to be just run for it to do this?

 

I think they caught fire just sitting there!!!.From what I hear........My cooling fan was running just sitting there...That could have been a fire hazzard.........Caper..........

 

theres always power going to it so it can malfuntion and heat up i beleave.
