i Have a 87 trail boss 250 and the starter didnt want to work when i got the atv.It had been on a farm siting for a long time ,cleaned it all up and works great with the pull start.Today i bang on the starter and it worked hes the problem,It sounds like its grinding on the flywheel. Im not sure how to remove it never have taken one off.I figured it might have been jamed up like the clutch drive was with mice packing stuff. any ideas what it might be? it starts the atv up just makes a noise any help with how to remove it also would be great thanks

 

the easy way is to remove the clutch cover and backing plate.then remove the recoil side then there will be 3 10mm bolts to remove inside. just did it on a 89 trailboss.
