Since things have changed I have decided to make a new thread..............on my 1992 polaris 350L 2 stroke if I try to start it(Pull start only) Ican pull it several times and get one solid blue hot spark every 4-5 pulls........What does this mean? this would mean the stator is good correct? Could it be the coil? I just replaced the wire and the cap. What all could cause this?

could mean differnt things. coil could be getting bad. could have rust built up on the flywheel and not making good contact when its turned over. ou've tried a difernt plug im assuming.

the stator should be fine but as sendori said maby some rust on the flywheel that keeps it from getting good contact. maby there is a bad gound somewere. did you check te ground on the coil? are the nuts tight? no rust or anything like that.

Yes I have even taken the coil off and put a new wire and plug cap on. when i did that i cleaned where the bolts go in. I will check for rust when i get to the shop Do I need to drain the oil to take off the side where the stator is?

i had that problem on one once. It was a bad pick up coil also known as a trigger coil. Do a ohm check on it to verify it. The one I did was way out of spec. I almost thought there was something wrong with my meter. lol I put a new pick up coil in and the problem was solved. I'm not saying it might not be the ignition coil but test that pick up coil. Good luck

its under the recoil cover its on the stator plate. it looks like this

BUT....I thouhgt you had a differnt type of ignition system I just looked at a microfich and noticed that your modle does not have that style. Sorry about that. Good luck. I would still Ohm check the stator though. It can tell you if its good or bad eaisly.
