Default Help with winch

First off, thanks to Stendori for his help. Your "from memory" instructions were spot on. Made it much easier.

Everything is installed and now when I move the rocker switch all I here is a click from the contactor. Either way all I hear is a clikc on the winch cable doesnt move..

Now mind you I got no instructions with this winch but it is a factory installed POLARIS winch off an 06 SPortsman 500. I also have never even used a winch, just watched others.

ANy help would be appreciated.

Matt

Is the contactor new our used? Some times moister gets in side the contactor and sticks, check all your connections.

Try taping on contactor with rubber hammer, and at the same time hitting the rocker switch in and out fast.

Default Help with winch

Elimin8r,

I had this issue when I installed my winch on my 06 Sportsman. I found that the prewired power cable was not wired into the battery. The end of my power cable near the battery had a yellow shrink tub over the connector that I had to cut off and then connect this directly to the battery post.

Default Help with winch

had the same problem with mine. I brought it home from the dealer freespooled it out and hit the button and nothing. Talk about upset. Started looking around and found that they never connected it up. Feels good knowing you have that winch, I never had one before and still havent needed it to get unstuck but just knowing you can get yourself out is a big stress reliever. I have used mine to drag deer up steep embankments though, its great for that.
