i posted like this last spring as well. first time in 5 months my wheelers have been started and sure enough the 800 fired in about 3 seconds and set and purred. the new 400 starter alright but i had to keep the throttle goning a little because it would stall. got to love that efi. oh yea the batteries stayed in them both all winter w/ no heated garage or charging.

I am in the same boat as you having to store my quads outside all winter my raptor fires w/ no problem (EFI) but the popo takes a little nusing to keep running. I do have the original batt from 04 in the pop so I think it's about time for a new one IMO. I will never buy a quad without EFI again. Just to nice to have!!!!

I run my Sportsman fairly often but it definitely fires easier than my wifes Scrammy and my Predator. I have mine in a shed but theres no heat or anything and the batteries are stock on all of them with no problems so far.

Hey Stendori, you know you have an adjustment on the choke **** to keep it running when you first start it? If not, it is that little rubber grommet below the choke **** and to hold the choke on a bit, pull the choke out to where it runs at the speed you want and turn the grommet clockwise about 1/4-1/2 turn. That holds it in position. Don't forget to release the grommet or the choke is hard to push in.

If you knew that, disregard what I said.

Hey Mongrol this is unrelated to the post but I was looking @ your pics and you should have a vacation ride for us guys this summer. We can come camp out at your place and you can show us some of these beautiful places that you ride. I have some nice sights here at home but nothing like what you get to enjoy everyday. It is absolutely beautiful where you live my wife and I look @ all the pics you post. So if you ever decide to have a camp out let us know. Ha Ha

ya i knew that about the choke. i dont know about on your 400, but this one all you have to pull it out about a 1/2" and it will flood it right out. after it was running a little bit is when it stalled. of course it only has 5 miles on the bike so i havent had any time to break it in or adjust it.

Rowe, wouldn't it be great to be able to share our neighborhoods like that. When I was younger, I cursed the semi isolation but now I really value it. I can;t imagine the population density in the Eastern US. I ride locally and in Northern Idaho. Great places, similar scenery. We don't seem to have the crazies moving in yet. Deer, Elk, & wild Turkeys are on the streets of this small retirement town and every time someone comments on how fortuneate I am to be able to enjoy this and to be able to ride down my driveway and I'm out of town.

I pull the choke out the half inch for 5 or 10 secs, the push it almost all the way in, blip the throttle a couple of times, push it all the way in and she idles like a dream.

Yeah, the Hawkeye 300 always warmed up quickly for me too. The 500 HO does like Stendori mentioned, have to monitor the throttle until the idle stabilizes or it will just die. The 800 sure is nice, just turn the key and walk away, come back in a few minutes and its warm and ready to go.

Just took mine out today, went to shed turned key and she started right up no probs no choke no nothing. I did put stable in it when I parked it, that cld have somthing to do with it. So carbs still doing ok in my book lol. (still getting 500efi for winter riding [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]
