My 1997 polaris 400 Xpress runs great but kind of dies out a little bit when i giver full throttle any suggestions?

 

hows it act? runs out of gas, spits and sputters, just seems to loose power but stil has the revs, does it loose rpms, act like it shuts down. just trying figure if its carb or clutch related.

 

have you check the air filter or changed to a better flowing filter.My 500 does that when the prefilter gets dirty

 

Its like it runs out of gas and then it backfires and if i let off and then put it down again the rpms fo up again and then it will cut out again and pop a little and then i let off again so i dont know what it is? im guessing its carb related. But i took the carb off and cleaned everything in it and didnt find anything wrong with it and i checked the filters too and they were clean also

 

Sounds kninda like you are running out of gas.I would put in a new fuel filter too.

 

When you say you cleaned the carb, do you know what to look for? The jets I mean, also try loosening the fuel cap the vent line could cause this.

 

Make sure none of the vent tubes are being pinched off. I once had a problem where one of my vent tubes was routed up under the seat and sitting on the seat caused it to close, causing loss of power and stuttering when accellerating. You might want to check your compression as well.
