For everybody that was waiting for a new Magnum ...here it is with a heavy duty viscous coupled FWD front differential.

Move over competitors, the new durability champ has arrived.

I wonder what brand of tires those are?

Do you think they will make it a HO?

 

That is a very interesting machine. I like the sound of the specs on it. I am going to see my dealer tommorow to try and find out something about availability. If he can get one I just may try it. If it a better machine than my present Magnum 500(which now has over 3000 trouble free miles on it) It is a GOOD one.

No IRS parts to wear out
More power/lower gearing/more control
Safer on off-cambers/rock hopping
Finally a new color!

Thor those tires are made by goodyear. And are a excellent tire From what i have been told.

 

I must be missing something. Nothing I’ve found says the RMK has the HO motor. A search on the Polaris website didn’t yield anything about these new machines.

I’d like to see the results of a field (mountain) test on the new ViscLock front end. As it is, I’ve been extremely happy with the AWD system for years. Though the lack of engine braking to the front wheels has been a complaint of those who ride steep declines ever since I can remember. Although the article also doesn’t mention EBS as standard I can’t imagine a machine designed for this purpose without it.

Their departure from the AWD system and their willingness to embrace new (improved?) technology says a lot about Polaris as a company.

You are right it doesn't say anything about HO in print but isn't it there in the photograph? On the tank next to the word Magnum?

 

I believe that is a 500 on the other side of Magnum.

 

That could be, I can't tell and the picture won't enlarge. It would make sense to put the HO in it but it would have made sense to put the HO in the Sportsman 6x6 I just bought too and they didn't.
Would you really want lower gearing and stiffer springs all the way around for where we ride?
My dealer says he won't be ordering one. Not enough mountains around here I guess.

 

Looks like a nice machine. But lets be real here folks, while it may look like a rubicon killer to some, on paper it has most of the features that the ruby gets slamed on by the Polaris boys. I.E. solid axle, 3-wheel drive limited slip. I know that this differential is supposed to be better, but I for one won't believe that until I see it. I also think that this is Polaris's 4x4 setup of the future, It will prove to be much more reliable than their current system. It will also be much safer. As other posts indicate, the on-demand system has a problem with one or both wheels engaging on their own at times. That sounds very dangerous to me. If that caused even one accident in which a person veared off a trail and struck a tree, can you imageon the law suit. Well enough said, but I really do like the looks of this Hondadized Polaris!

 

Guys:I beat them to the punch. I already have what I consider to be a close relative to this RMK. I put the lower gears from a 325 Magnum in my 500 and a higher lift cam, rejetted the carb and a K&N filter.

Result: I can chase down (going uphill) any other 500 that has been in front of me. When they're pegged full throttle, I've still got throttle to use. No bragg, just fact.

The one thing that truly interests me about this RMK is the front differential. If this will hold back on the downhills it is going to be awesome! I will be looking to see if I can retro-fit the differential on my MAG 500. If not......well a trade in is not out of the question. However, that grey-ghost color has got to go! I think I'd like mine Camo!
