So, With this viscloc, Is it still going to be TRUE 4wd? Or what? Any chance we see it on the sportsman?

Thor, thanks for the compliment. However I seriously dought Polaris is listening to me. I do wish that they would listen to all of the talk in here as to the good and bad being discussed, and if they would acknowledge or disprove some of this then I feel we'd have a company that would make us proud for sure.

How I got the idea for lower gearing actually came to me from a freind that has a 96 Sportsman 500 and a 2000 Magnum 325. He had just bought the 325 before elk hunting season in Idaho, however that was not the reason he bought it. He really bought it for his wife as I did for mine. As the season got closer he for whatever reason opted to take the 325 instead of the 500. Well, when he returned a couple weeks later he called me up to tell me that he was actually thinking of trading the Sportsman in for another 325! He told me of how he was able to really climb steep terrain with it, without spinning his tires off (something he has always complained about on his 500). He was very impressed with the lower gearing. He went to the dealer and asked if he could get lower gearing in his Sportsman and after some investigation found that short of switching the entire gearcase with that of a 335 he could not. After learning of this,I decided to look into the differences between the 325 and 500 Magnum gearcases and found that the only difference was the output gears and that they will directly swap out giving me the lower gearing that is really nice in these mountains! Now if that new Visco lock system can be interchanged that will complete the process!!!

Having worked in a wrecking yard for many years through my youth this business of interchanging parts comes naturally to me, it is just a matter of investigation. Also trial and error!!

You would need to ask a person with a Bombardier Traxter because the Viscloc are on them already?I also think lower gearing would be fine on the Magnum because it has a 57 mph top end and even if it only did 50mph that is plenty fast for flat land trail riding.
