Default 94 400l problems and maintance

hello all,
i have a 94 400l, ive had it for about 2 years but sat for almost 1 year in my building, been waiting on a simple part, well finally got it, put it together fired it up i noticed alil bit of power loss, 3 days later i really noticed a large loss of power and it got really hard to start, so since the starter was broke, i been pull starting it, so when i was takin the starter off, i had the pull cover off and i could turn the fly wheel fairly easy, i still have some conpression but not much, so im gonna have to rebuild, but does anyone think that i could get away with just replacing the standard piston for a new standard piston if everything is still ok , just the rings wore, ?, and what kind and how much oil goes in the motor part, not the tranny? thanks for any help guys

thanks
Jeremy

ps sorry so long, this bike is in very good shape not hurt at all, i just think its due for some tlc

the stock pistons are known to break the skirt off.you can take the reed valve off and rotate the crank with the pull start slowly and watch the piston move up and down.the reed valve is mounted on the head behind the carb.there's a rubber boot between the carb and reed valve.more than likely you'll have to have it honed or bored abit.get a wiesco piston they're not bad priced and last alot longer than stock. as far as oil goes any 10w30 will do.i think it takes about 70cc of oil.if you want some hop up parts or motor work contact rick ritter at rittercycles.com

thanks for the help guys so far, here is an update, today 5 pulls and it fires up, rode it about 100 feet and just keep bogging, i still think its the piston and compression, i shouldnt be able to grab the flywheel and turn it by hand that easy, with just alil bumb at top dead center... i also checked the counter balancer oil and guess what no oil on the dip stick, added about 2 onces and it was over full, will this being run alil low hurt? and how can i tell if it is hurt i also thought the impeller and oiler works off the balancer?, now the piston, if its a standard piston and the cylinder wall are not scorned couldnt i just give it alil hone and replace with a standard piston? what u think?
thanks for the help guys
Jeremy

does it have 2stroke oil in it? there should be a tank on the front for it. it could be a bad boot around the carb letting air in.check the vent lines for crimped or missing lines or the jets could be clogged

yep theres oil in it, and its gettin plenty of oil, no bad boots, had them apart yesterday, and one vent line was blocked but i went ahead and just disconnected all the ones at the carb, to see if that was the problem, also yesterday i took the carb apart cleaned them pulled the jets checked them . blew all the of path ways and they was clean, today i noiticed that the only way i can get it to run is to turn the idle all the way up, but still run ruff. kinda like if u would run it in reverse with out the over ride, but just alil worst
thanks for the help so far

keep the ?S coming, maybe we can eliminate most and get it right, but back to the ?s at hand, fresh gas yes, spark plug (thats what i thought it was at first) well its new, and im gettin a strong blue spark, magneto and magnets not sure, i havent tried to take te flywheel off yet, and the eclip not sure, il check those tomorrow, but i was wondering, when all this was happening the motor kinda made a weird noise, and i shut it down, i fired it up later on and it made the noise for a second and it stopped, but thats when it really started running like blah! but i been reading on here and if the piston skirt broke, would i still have 90 psi compression? thanks for the help so far
