Default Hey Mongrol

I noticed you have tracks on your atv and I'm sure, being a Canadian resident, you use them! What brand are they and what can you tell me about them?

I almost bout some this winter, but was concerned about burning belts...is that a problem? Also, my friends with sleds have much more power to weight ration than my 800 would be, so I figure it would be slow and not worth the cost.

I was wondering what your thoughts are on this and anyone else out there that has trax...

Damn, just finished the post and wiped it out so I'll try again.

I bought "Tatou" tracks made by Camoplast in Quebec. A fantastic trouble free product. Bought them from atvtracks.net in the US. Price including everthing was $3676.00 Can shipped to the border.

I've had every toy you could imagine, but the quad with Tracks was the most fun. I've put the tracks on my 300CC Hawkeye and on my Sportsman 400HO. The Hawkeye climbs the best but is a lot slower. The 400 is a good compromise and I've been over 7,000 ft Alt. with them.

I, like you, was concerned about the belts. Have got 600 mi. on the 400 and 525 mi. on the Hawkeye. Took both machines to the dealer to get an unbiased opinion on the belts. They could not measure any wear on the belts. If anything should eat belts, tracks should, but they haven't.

I've had a lot of skepticism about not having H/L on the CVTransmission but it hasn't been required. Maybe a heavier quad should have H/L CVT.

Totally different riding that sleds. Slower but more useable in deep snow at slower speeds. Sleds need the speed to stay on top of powder where the quad sinks 8-18" and keeps going. If you start spinning the tracks, you just get off the throttle and do something else.

The Tatou tracks are basically trouble free as are most tracks. If you buy some consider the 4 season ones as they are the most practical

The only downside that I have found that at the end of the trail it takes about a 20' diameter to turn around.

Check some previous posts for my photos in photobuckt, If you don't find that, let me know and I'll post it again.

Hope this helps.
