was the problem all of a sudden or a slow? the valves would be a slow loss of power ofr floating at lower and lower rpms. unless something broke and if it broke it probably woulldn't run.</end quote></div>
hes had this issue only since it sat over the winter and first starter it up. i would guess valves are just fine. imo.</end quote></div>
yea the valves shoud be fine is that a carbed or fuel injected atv?

Would it hurt to check the valve lash? Or just guess that they are set correctly. Personally I'd go at the diaphragm in the carb ahh heck the whole carb.
By the way if it has a CHOKE it is not fuel injected.

Thanks you all for the great
posts. Yes the fouled plug was
dry very charcoaled up to the 5th
thread. After I changed it out, I
didn't run her much after it wouldn't
stay running. I will give some trys
this weekend, after I pull her out again
to work on it.
Anyone recommend any particular carb
cleaning spray? And if this is now my fate
do I need to empty out my tank of remaining
gas? What dry gas or fuel clean products for
the tank do you all recommend to.
This SUX! I was hoping I wouldn't have to do
a real carb service, ohh well thats the brakes,
I reckon! Thanks everyone!

I emailed the moderator and it went away. Some people are alive only because it is against the law to shoot them. On the 450 make sure the slide and everything in the carb moves freely. I believe that vacuum makes that thing work so a little resistance might not let the slide move properly. Doc

Yea I thought it was totally INAPPROPIATE for that guy to
post his SOLICITATIONS in this thread. If he really wanted
to target the FORUM why not just create a new POST?
Kudos to the moderator for cleaning it instantly and you all
for pouncing on it asap.
Thanks all,

Hey all, I got her working and running good. After doing all the stuff suggested here
in this thread (Thanks you all!) I had my cuz' friend come over and tear apart my
CARB. He was good and well seasoned! I tried to follow his every move but lost
him after about the 5th step, LOL. Anyways the CARB was gunked up a good bit,
leaving a green discolored residue. We cleaned it all out, and the jets with orfice
pin needles as well as the FUEL filter replacement and adjusted the THROTTLE CABLE
and tuned the IDLE.
She is idling at about 1250-1280 RPMS (is this normal?), running steady, sounding good, REVing w/o
spitting,sputtering,cutting out, hesitating, yadda yadda.
Thanks again,
