I know several guys that have replaced their vented rotors with solid rotors. They say they work better in the mud. They just use OEM pads.

No matter how cheap the pads were they shouldn't of wore out that quick, 1 day of riding and them wearing out points to possibly some other problem-maybe a frozen caliper or some such type of problem. If i was you I'd of course get new pads BUT before installing them I'd check the rest of my system for other problems otherwise there's a real good chance you'll end up with the same problems and another worn set of pads.

I've had the same thing wore out a new set of pads riding thru a lot of sandy mud in 2 days of riding ,the caliper just doesn't back off enough for the mud to act as a grinding element ,

If you are planning to ride in harsh environments, like mud, the pads have to be sintered metal - a good sintered metal pad is going to have a very solid metalic look to them, not "speckled" with metal flakes like the organic compounded pads. If you look on Ebay, you will see the difference in the pic's between true sintered and organic pads. EBC is a good replacement brand in place of OEM.
Just remember, in all things you get what you pay for. The cheapest route is not always the best. Just as I wish the best for the guy that posted the $12 set of brakes from O'reilley's.
